AI assistants

Connect Lectern to an AI assistant and ask it about what you've saved: "What did I save about habits?", "Summarize the essay I'm reading and highlight its main point", "Save this link and tag it for later."

Lectern speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Your Lectern's MCP address is:

https://lectern.segredo.dev/mcp

Claude

Works on every Claude plan, on the web, desktop and mobile apps. On the Free plan you can add one custom connector.

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Lectern and paste the address above.
  3. Choose Connect, sign in to Lectern if asked, and choose Allow.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT adds custom apps through Developer mode, which OpenAI offers on some plans only.

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Choose Create app, name it Lectern, paste the address above, and pick OAuth for authentication.
  3. Connect, sign in to Lectern if asked, and choose Allow.

Claude and ChatGPT reach your Lectern from the internet, so it needs a public https address. See Self-hosting.

Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Claude Desktop

These take an API token instead of a sign-in. Generate one in Settings → API token; that page has the exact setup for each, with your address filled in. For Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http lectern https://lectern.segredo.dev/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer lec_…"
